Quick Tutorial

For the printing of my patterns, you’ll find that the pages are sized to fit both Legal and DIN formats, ensuring convenience and versatility in your sewing space. Just make sure to print it true to size and cut off any excess.

  1. Download the tiled pattern suitable for A4 or US letter format for printing at home or at a Copy Shop in A0 format.
  2. Choose your preferred size by referring to the Size Guide. Utilize the layers feature in the PDF sewing pattern to select the size(s) you wish to print.
  3. Check the Printing Layout to ensure you only print the necessary pages. Adjust print settings accordingly. Please note that if you encounter entirely empty pages within the pattern, this is intentional. The space is not needed for the selected size, allowing for potential reuse of the page in future projects.
  4. Select ‘no scaling’ or ‘actual size’, or manually set the scale to 100%. Ensure orientation is set to ‘auto’. Verify the accuracy of the test square measurements.
  5. Trim the right and bottom page margins for easier alignment when assembling sheets. For home printing, the pattern includes a 1 cm (3/8″) overlap to prevent edges from being lost during assembly.
  6. Use tape or glue to join the pages together, following the numeric markings for sequence. Refer to the Printing Layout for guidance.
  7. Cut out the paper pattern pieces as needed. This sewing pattern includes seam allowances of 1 cm (3/8″) unless otherwise indicated. You can cut those off if you want to add your own instead.

Using PDF Layers

Before printing, display your desired size in Adobe PDF Reader for a more convenient workflow.

  1. Refer to the screenshot for finding the layer tool in Adobe PDF Reader, usually located on the right hand side (1).
  2. Then, toggle the main layer to display the sizes (2).
  3. Next deselect off all the sizes you don’t want to print (3); however, it’s recommended to keep the essentials checked for a smoother experience.
